I am a Technology Education Educator with 5 years experience working in varied grade levels ranging from grades 6-12. I have a bachelors in Technology Education from New York City College of Technology and a Masters in Childhood education with Bilingual extension at Lehman College.

In the 21st century there are still limited opportunities to learn about computer science concepts and practices in schools. There is a disconnection between student's understanding how computer science influences their daily lives. Some of the limitations in computer science are:





  • Lack of Access
    • Less than half of K-12 school offer meaningful computer science courses that include programming
    • 44% of 12 graders attend high schools that offer
  • Underrepresentation
    • In 2015 AP Computer Science A exam were female, this was the worst participation rate of all AP exams.
  • Effect on Postsecondary Education and Industry
    • According to NCES, 2014 17% of students graduating are female, 8% Black, and 9% are Hispanic.
  • StereoTypes
    • According to Google & Gallup, 2015 students report they notice in film or in television individuals who do computer science are White or Asian and wearing glasses.
